+ Emerald grew up very wealthy, as her father worked as a financial advisor and investor and her mother inherited a comfortable living. They were always traveling but were based out of New York City.
+ Emmie was bullied as a child and watched as her father beat her mother. She grew up feeling like she must become stronger or she will be a victim her entire life. That is where Em's void of emotions began.
+ Emmie's parents signed her up for whatever activities that she wanted, including archery and mixed martial arts. This is partially where her self-defense obsession began. But her real passion was in the computer camp that shed go to every summer. Naturally, she was ridiculed as a nerd and tried to hide her passion.
+ Emmie had seen enough of her father beating her mother and one day she pulled out his own gun and shot him dead. Of course, Sge felt the initial stab of remote and then felt nothing. She justified it as he was someone who deserved it. She wasn't close to either of her parents, so she wasn't doing it to protect her mother. She did it simply because he was the bad guy and that's what happens to bad guys.
+ After she killed her father, she didn't try to hide that she did it. She was proud of getting rid of the man that he was. The police didn't initially believe her but they did once they took fingerprints off of the gun. The CIA quickly took an interest in the brilliant and emotionless girl. Anyone who could kill her own father probably wouldn't hesitate to shoot someone else. They offered her a position at the academy and she agreed.
